Report of Richard Perryn on 1 collective petition (26 people, including the Mayor, Aldermen and others from the Borough of Huntingdon) on behalf of Thomas Blumsum/Thomas Blunsum (the younger), convicted at the 'last' Huntingdonshire Spring Assizes, for stealing sheep, property of Thomas Arthur (5 wether sheep) and John Atwood (4 wether sheep), on 30 January 1795. Evidences supplied by John Lord, shepherd; Thomas Arthur, John Throssel, Thomas Cooke, John Spencer and Randolph Bull. There is a covering letter to the petition from the Earl of Sandwich. Grounds for clemency: youth (23 years), came from an honest and industrious family, good previous conduct, has a young family and difficulty feeding them, and is willing to serve in the navy. Initial sentence: death, commuted to 7 years transportation. Recommendation: mercy, on condition he enlists in HM. Navy. Folios 52-56. See also HO 47/18/76, folios 306-307.
