Report of George Hardinge on Mary Bevan, Edward Williams and Joseph Pedley, all currently in Brecon gaol, Breconshire.
1. Mary Bevan, 'completely reformed'. Recommendation: free pardon.
2. Edward Williams had behaved well and desired to serve the remainder of his sentence in naval service. Recommendation: to enlist in HM. Navy.
3. Joseph Pedley was convicted 2 years ago for being a pick-pocket. He is described as very good at it and part of a gang (now broken up). The prisoner was sentenced to 7 years transportation but 'for want of direction here from Government', he has remained in gaol. Hardinge asks if it would be better for him to serve abroad in the services rather than remain in gaol. See also HO 47/18/30, folios 138-139.
There is an annotation that Bevan received a free pardon: Williams to serve on a ship of war and Pedley to serve in the Army or be removed to Botany Bay. Folios 37-40.
