Report of Francis Buller on William Coats / William Coates, convicted at the City of York Spring Assizes on 20 March 1792, for stealing a gold enamelled pin, value £4/6, property of William Etherington. The prisoner was also tried for stealing a cornelian seal set in gold, property of Richard Clarke, from his shop, but was acquitted (although the judge thought the case was proved).
