Report of Lord Kenyon on Thomas Harper, convicted (with Roger Benstead senior and Roger Benstead junior) at the Suffolk Assizes, for the murder of Thomas Briggs. Grounds for clemency: youth (under 20 years), he acted under the influence of Benstead senior, and in order to ensure he is regarded as a competent witness against the Bensteads (to ensure the most responsible offender is convicted). Initial sentence: death, respited. Recommendation: pardon. Folios 22-23.
