Description

Holdernesse to Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick: the king will be pleased to take into his pay the duke of Brunswick's regiment of carabineers, squadron of hussars and the second battalion of Zastrow's regiment, on the basis of the present convention. He would willingly take more, but hesitates to weaken the garrisons of the fortresses [Brunswick and Wolfenbüttel]. He would take them on condition that they might be recalled if needed. Effects of the Prussian defeat at Kunersdorf. He wonders whether some diversion might be made in their favour. Dated at Whitehall. ff. 158-161
