Description

Acknowledges receipt of letter; the 500 Stand of Light Infantry Arms will be most gratefully received; states will use his endeavour to reconcile the Legislature to the expense of providing for the maintenance of the Island 'Negroes' whilst they are employed upon public works, but as the 'Negroe' allowance of provisions is trifling in comparison of the 'great object' he has in view, namely for Grenada to take upon itself the pay and clothing of the whole 'Negro' Corps from Carolina, he states he 'shall not suffer the lesser Object to endanger the greater.'
