"Aircraft Carrier."
"The aircraft carrier is a floating aerodrome. It is used for Fleet reconnaissance and defence, torpedo attack, and convoy protection. The aircraft are stowed beneath the flight deck. They take-off over the bows, and fly-on over the stern of the vessel, which meantime steams into wind so as to reduce the speed necessary for these operations. Note the plume of steam in the bows which shows whether the carrier is dead into wind."
