Description (What the record is about)
-
"The Anatomy of the Aeroplane."
"On smaller aeroplanes the arrangement of the tail unit is very much simpler. Clearly shown here is the big rudder slightly turned, the rigid straight edged fin, the tailplane and the elevators. The overlapping part of the rudder at the top being the opposite side of the hinge helps to balance the surface and ease the physical strain on the pilot's legs when he moves it to left or right. Also shown in this picture is the tail wheel which prevents the end of the fuselage and tail unit from dragging along the ground."
