"The Anatomy of the Aeroplane."
"The anatomy of the aeroplane. Although men have flown in gliders for over a century their imitation of birds could go no further. Birds travel by flapping their wings. Men had to wait before some alternative method of propulsion could be evolved. This came with the invention of the petrol motor, and at last in 1903 the Wright brothers achieved powered flight for the first time. To-day, only 40 years after, the modern aircraft is of amazing complexity. This diagramatic drawing of a bomber shows the many thousands of intricate parts, and gives an idea of the problems that face the aeroplane designer." 11771/8
