Holdernesse to Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick: he thanks him for the intercepted letter from Contades and that from Starhemburg. He is having the former translated for the king. As to the latter, if the enemy should attempt invasion, his ports are blockaded from Dunkirk to Bayonne, and there are troops in all three kingdoms ready to receive them. However, the French have paraded their intentions so ostentatiously that they may feel bound to undertake something. Dated at Whitehall. ff. 1-3
