Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick to George II: Soubise has abandoned Cassel and will be pursued by Isemburg. The past campaign has proved it is necessary to cover Hesse. The French will be at least 130,000 strong in the next campaign, and if the force for Hesse is drawn from his army he will be unable to remain on the Rhine. He wishes to bring the Netherlands into the war. He asks for English troops to be sent or Danish to be hired. He thinks the landgrave of Hesse could be persuaded to supply more light troops. Dated at Münster. ff. 145-148
