Holdernesse to Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick: Soubise has been appointed to lead the French army assembling in Flanders. He suspects the French intend action against the Netherlands or England. Other reports suggest the French and Austrians are sending people to Italy to support their position in the case of the death of the king of Spain. The king has represented to the courts of Naples and Turin that they should concert their actions. Dated at Whitehall. ff. 17-19
