Description

Letter referring to situation in Tobago after the French capture; declaration of the Marquis de Bouillé of his readiness to do everything in his power to alleviate the calamities; due to this went to Martinico [Martinique] as hoping to propose some method where could continue cultivating their Estates; three enclosures including 'The Memorial of the Proprietors and Merchants of the Island of Tobago resident in Barbados on Behalf of Themselves an the Other Proprietors of the Said Island of Tobago, and of the Mortgagees, Merchants, Creditors and Others of his Britannick Majesties Subjects interested in the Commerce of the Said Island; memorial prays for 'your Excellency to grant them permission to carry such Provisions and Plantation Stores as shall be necessary for the sustenance of themselves their families and negroes and for the cultivation of their Estates & to bring back the produce of the said Island of Tobago to this Island in any British Vessels navigated according to Law, or to give you Memorialists such other relief …'.
