Prince Ferdinand of Brunswick to Holdernesse: the duke of Marlborough should arrive next day with his force at Coesfeld, and the two armies should join on 14 August. He believes Campbell's regiment has disembarked in East Friesland. His reasons for re-crossing the Rhine. Contades refused battle on the night of 1/2 August, but he believes he will follow him across the Rhine. He asks for reinforcements and repeats his requests for Stade to be garrisoned and the French prisoners to be moved from Hanover. He will do all in his power to retain the Prussian cavalry. Dated at 'Ober Elte'. ff. 24-26
