Thomas de Lovetot states that he was seised of the wardship and marriage of Robert, son and heir of Ralph de Wassinglee, until Malcolm de Harlee, then escheator, suggested to Queen Eleanor that it should fall to the King; whereupon she seized it and gave it to Humphrey de Waldene. Thomas is ready to aver by the whole country of Huntingdonshire that he and his ancestors were seised of this wardship and marriage from time immemorial, and requests grace and justice, so that he and his heirs are not disinherited.
