The petitioners state that in Pentecost week in 1303 a ship travelling with their merchandise from King's Lynn to London was attacked at Kirkley Road by Peter Hus and Elys Clinkehamer and taken to Calais, where they stole its goods. Letters from the Mayor and community of London, under the city's common seal, and from the burgesses of King's Lynn, were sent to the then Captain of Calais to ask for delivery of their goods, but he would give them no delivery or compensation. They request compensation for their losses and damages.
