Description

Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The King is asked to ordain in the present parliament that no lead is to be sold or taken out of the realm without paying tronage, because he is being deceived and suffering great losses in several ports because of this.
Nature of endorsement
The Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer are to be ordered to inform themselves about the business contained in this petition, and if they can establish by inquisition or in some other legitimate manner that lead ought to be weighed on the tron as the petition supposes, then they are to send orders by writ of the Exchequer to the ports where the King has tronage, that tronage is to be paid on it, as on other manners of avoirdupois.
pressionistically, on the basis of the hand, to the first half of the fourteenth century
Note
Dated on the guard to '? c. 1353', with reference to measures concerning the export of lead in Rot. Parl. vol. II p.247, which do not seem relevant. This date seems far too late for a Latin endorsement. The petition is dated impressionistically, on the basis of the hand, to the first half of the fourteenth century
