Jocelin de Clyve states that although the citizens of London have from time immemorial been accustomed to buy, sell, load and unload herring and other merchandise at Little Yarmouth, and to treat their herring and take it where they please, and although the Great Charter says that they will have their franchises and free customs unimpaired, John Perbroun, Robert de Drayton, Thomas de Drayton, Henry Randolf, Robert Elys, Walter atte Sonde, Bartholomew de Thorp, Benedict de Chipwrite, Stephen de Drayton, Thomas Stacy and others from Great Yarmouth, on the Saturday before St Luke in the King's seventh year, came to Little Yarmouth with force and arms and carried off several ships, containing herring which Jocelin had bought, to Great Yarmouth. Jocelin asks that justices might be appointed to hear and determine this trespass, and that a remedy might be given to him.
