Nature of request
Copy of a grant by Hugh de Laval to the bishop of all his lands in various places in Essex, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, the bishop rendering £40 to Laval for his life.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the escheator that he should enquire if those land and tenements are in the king's hand, and if Laval was seised at the time of the bishop and the time of John de Burnel.

The grant is dated with the petition to which it was appended to 1291-1307 as the grant itself dates to 1291 and the petition cannot predate it, and the petition is clearly of Edward I's reign (SC 8/120/5969). It is likely that the petition is earlier in this range than later. The grant itself is dated in its dating clause to 12 July 1291.
