Reference
SC 8/120/5967
Date
[c. 1307-c. 1310]
Description
Petitioners
Llewelyn ap Adam and his brothers.
Name(s)
ap Adam, Llewelyn
Addressees
Edward, king of England and his council.
Nature of request
The petitioners request remedy and grace and that they like other freemen should only pay rent for the land of their father's inheritance, and no increment. They are charged both the rent and increment because their father died in the last Welsh war and they were too young, poor and weak to come to the king to receive the late king's grace as other freemen did.
Nature of endorsement
It is considered by the council, if it pleases the king, that it be ordered to the justice or to his lieutenant that he view the ordinance and inform himself of the things contained in the petition and certify the king.
Places mentioned
Tal-y-bont, Merioneth, Wales.
People mentioned
Edward I, King of England.
Note
The petition is dated to c. 1307-c. 1310 as the petition is clearly early in Edward II's reign.
