Nature of request
The petitioners request livery of Nicola's dower estates in the manor of Great Dunmow. She had been unable to secure her rights, as her former husband, Simon Fitz Richard, had granted the manor to Humphrey de Bohun, and it was now in the king's hands following de Bohun's forfeiture.
Nature of endorsement
Let certain faithful men be assigned in Chancery to enquire into the contents of the petition in the presence of the keeper [of the manor], whether their estate was remitted and the true situation at the time when the aforesaid Simon died, and return an inquisition.
