Nature of request
The Earl of Kildare makes two requests.1) He asks for a grant of royal service in order to go to Thomond to avenge the death of Richard de Clare.2) He asks for the debts of his ancestors accumulated since the time of Henry III to be pardoned, amounting to £400.1)
Nature of endorsement
Concerning the first petition the council advise that it should be sent to the justiciar of Ireland that, having summoned those of the council he sees fit to summon, they should act concerning the said service as seems right to them.2) Concerning the second petition, the council advise that the Treasurer of the Dublin Exchequer be ordered to certify to the king how much and what manner of debts are due, and meanwhile he should have respite.
