Nature of request
Kirkeby requests that Redman be summoned before the king and ordered to make restitution of Kirkeby's wife and goods. He states that Redman and his wife forcibly seized his wife, together with parcels worth 140 marks, and has detained her for three years, along with charters to his lands, which he is in danger of losing.

Note
Dated on the guard to? 1381-2, but no evidence is given. Fraser, Northumberland Petitions, pp. 132-3, suggests 1337-87, as John de Kirkeby died in 1387, although the handwriting is clearly from the latter part of this period. Sir Mathew Redman of Levens died c.1390.
