The burgesses of Hull ask to be discharged from the burden of building of a ship, ordered by the king, due to the great poverty of their town and the detention of their ships in the king's service.

Note
Dated on the guard to 1372, on the basis of the entry in CPR 1370-4, p.219, relating to the building of such a ship. However, there is nothing substantial to link the two, although the handwriting of the petition would seem of the right date.
