Description

King and Council.
Nature of request
The people of the Channel Islands make three requests.1) They ask to have their rights restored to the position when the islands were given into the hands of Otho [de Grandison], claiming that he has forced them to come to the pleas every day when they should only attend every two weeks, thus losing their labour.2) They complain that Ditton and Barentyn, the ministers of Otho, unjustly imprison the people for all kinds of trespasses, despite offers of pledges, and fine them, contrary the law.3) They complain that the ministers amerce the people without regard and at their own will, where they ought to be judged and fined by jurors according to the offence.
