Nature of request
[A large part of this petition is missing]Hamerton requests writs to the sheriffs of Yorkshire and Lancashire, ordering them to make proclamations summoning various rioters and criminals before the king's justices (the names of the criminals are given in an attached schedule). He states that these men have forcibly ousted him and his tenants from his property in Hammerton, Barnoldswick and elsewhere [further names are now missing], and that the local officials dare not act against them.

Dated on the guard to 1427-8, but no evidence is cited. However, the damage pattern and the handwriting of the endorsement on the face of this petition and SC 8/117/5834 suggest both belong to the same parliament, and both are similar to a number of other petitions from the parliament of 1427-8.
