[A large part of this petition is missing.]Hord requests an investigation into the reasons behind his inability to levy certain sums in respect of his duties as escheator relating to the lands of Edward Charleton, and the discharge of the sums outstanding. Note
Dated by Rees to c. 1423-1432. Hord left office as escheator in November 1423, and the petition probably dates to relatively soon afterwards. Dated on the guard to?c1432; however, the reference given relates to the succession of the Duke of York (CPR 1429-36, p.242), and since he is not mentioned in the petition, this suggests an earlier date. The damage pattern and the handwriting of the endorsement on the face of this petition and SC 8/117/5835A suggest both belong to the same parliament, and is similar to other petitions from the parliament of 1427-8.
