Nature of request
Hastings states that he presented a petition at the last parliament held at York in the twelfth year of the reign (1318), regarding arrears of rent from lands in Gringley. An inquest was ordered, but due to the war against the Scots nothing has been done, and he therefore requests that the king re-issue his command and hold the inquest.
