Description
Petitioners
William Haym.
Name(s)
Haym, William
Addressees
King and Council.
Nature of request
Haym requests the restoration to him of lands in Burnt Norton, descended to him from Alice, daughter of Waryn le Freman. The lands were in the hands of Wythindon, but are now in the king's hands due to the forfeiture of Wythindon as an adherent of the king's enemies.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be resolved on the release of John de Wythindon, who is in prison as stated in the petition.
Places mentioned
Stowe Saint Edward (Stow on the Wold), [Gloucestershire]
Norton under Egge (Burnt Norton), Gloucestershire
People mentioned
John de Wythindon (Withington)
Alice [le Freman], daughter of Waryn le Freman
Waryn le Freman
Walter, brother of Alexander
Alexander, father of Waryn le Freman
Henry, son of Walter and father of the petitioner.
Note
The petition relates to court proceedings of Easter 14 Edward II (1321). Wythindon was presumably an adherent of Thomas of Lancaster, and his property was to be confiscated on 7 February 1322. The petition presumably dates from between the fall of Thomas of Lancaster and the deposition of Edward II.
