Nature of request
The petitioners seek a writ to the seneschal of Leicester, ordering the suspension of a distraint against them. They say they held lands of Ralph Basset, who held of Thomas of Lancaster through services now in the hands of the King. The seneschal now demands these services of the petitioners, although Basset is under the protection of the king.
Nature of endorsement
It was shown to the King that Ralph Basset is in royal service, and has letters of protection. Let the warden be ordered that, if distraint has been made for the homage of Ralph, he should discharge it, and the distraint should be superseded on account of Ralph's service.

Note
The petition would seem to date to the period between the fall of Thomas of Lancaster and the death of Edward II. The guard note suggests 1324, but no evidence is cited.
