[Parts of this petition are now illegible]. The wardens of the March request advice on the preservation of the truce between England and Scotland. They are aware of the king's wishes, but have suffered greatly from attacks by the Scots.

Note
John de Holand was created Earl of Huntingdon in June 1388, and appointed Keeper of the West March on 16 February 1397, at a time when Henry Percy was already Warden of the East March. The petition therefore seems to have been written for presentation at the Parliament opening on 29 September 1397, the date on which Holand was created Duke of Exeter.
