Nature of request
Holt and Burgh request that they be restored to their lands. They state that they suffered forfeiture in the 1388 parliament, had been restored to them in the 1397-8 parliament, but had lost them again on the accession of Henry IV. The Westminster Parliament of 1401 again restored to them all of their lands held by the king, but these had been alienated by Richard II, and they received nothing.
Nature of endorsement
The king orders that Holt and Burgh be restored to all their possessions forfeited in 1388, and that they should be able to have them without other prosecution or process being made. And the council should take advice concerning the value of any possessions purchased from King Richard, and should make agreement with the purchasers, provided that John and William allow reasonable compensation, paying to the purchasers in accordance with the ordinance of the council.
