Nature of request
The King is asked to remember that, at the council lately held at Lichfield, it was agreed that Prince Henry be paid 1000 marks to pay for his stay in the Marches for defence against the rebels of Wales. Agreement was made with the Treasurer of England regarding the first 500 marks, and the king is asked to make a speedy assignment of the remainder, as well as £193 10s for men-at-arms and archers retained for defence against the rebels, and for as long as they are required in the future.
Nature of endorsement
It is agreed by the Lords in Parliament that the Prince shall be paid the 500 marks remaining of the aforesaid 1000 marks, and the £193 10s now due. Provision shall also be for the time the men-at-arms and archers shall remain for the safeguard of the parts of Wales, and the Keeper of the Privy Seal shall have authority to make assignments as necessary.

Datable to 1404, by reference to the council at Lichfield on 23 August 1404. Probably presented to the parliament held at Coventry on 6 October 1404. Rees states that the petition was put forward by the shire knights for the border counties on behalf of Prince Henry.
