- Much of this petition is illegible, but it appears that Grandison's tenure was either disrupted or disputed, and justices were appointed to investigate.John de Grandison (1292-1369) was Archdeacon of Nottingham from 1310 until his appointment as Bishop of Exeter in 1327. Rees, Petitions Relating to Wales, p. 188, states that Staunton was a Justice of North Wales between 1288 and 1295, but either he was later re-appointed or this is another man, since Grandison's grant could not be that early.
