Nature of request
[Response to SC 8/115/5705]The king grants that both Gloucester and Salisbury be quit of all the debts mentioned in the petition, on condition that all debts owed by the king to them are also quit, and that they return the jewels if due payment is made to them in the next three years. This grant to Gloucester is made in consideration of his long service to Henry V, particularly in the siege of Harfleur and the battle of Agincourt, and his capture of Cherbourg and other towns and castles, and also since Henry had refused to recompense him for expenses incurred before the muster at Dreux. Salisbury is also to be rewarded for long service, particularly in battle at Cravant and Verneuil, and in the expectation of future service to Henry VI.
