Nature of request
The people request the restoration of their ancient custom and that justices be sent to enquire of the matter of the wardens and their appointment of bailiffs to hold the court and pleas, as the wardens ought to come with warrants of the king, and the bailiffs that they appoint should swear an oath before the jurors to lawfully keep and maintain the rights, estate and crown of the king and the people in their customs and usage, but now as the wardens are within the islands without writ and de la Court will not make oath.
