The Godestons request a remedy be ordained for them so that they can have livery of the manor of Frome Valeis which is still held in the king's hand though Amye Godeston is heir and of age.

The petition dates to the reign of Henry IV, and probably early in the reign as the petition refers to both Edward III and Richard II as late kings. The petition has therefore been dated to c. 1399-c. 1407. There had been an inquiry on the estates of John Payn in 1397: CIPM, vol. XVII, nos. 883-90.
