Nature of request
Greystoke requests the arrest of Hilton and all his company be as Greystoke, having received a commission to guard Roxburgh Castle, was seized by the earl of the Scottish March in England and ransomed because Hilton and many men of Northumberland had seized Scottish merchants and ships, and he requests they be held until the matter of the ransom is settled.
Nature of endorsement
Let a commission be made to certain sufficient and indifferent people to enquire of the boats and the goods from them and into whose hand they have come, and to arrest all those in whose hand they are and to keep them until they have made sufficient surety to answer the king for their value. If anyone wishes to contest the enquiry they are to be released at mainprise to answer the king if it be found against them.
