Nature of request
Goman requests a writ be sent to the sheriff of Derbyshire to make proclamations in the town of Derby that Maisham, Bowyer and others be before the king in his Bench within a quarter of a year to answer for the death of her husband, and if they appear and are found guilty by inquisition then execution be made on them, and if they don't appear then they be attainted of the death.

Note
The petition has been dated speculatively to c. 1430-c. 1440 on the basis of references in the patent rolls. Nicholas Maisham appears in 1434 in an unrelated reference, and in 1441 is noted as being the former bailiff of Derby (CPR 1429-36, p.410-1; CPR 1436-41, p.482). Although it is quite possible that Maisham served again as bailiff, and does appear as late as 1451 with several others noted in this petition, the date range has been accepted because of Maisham being recorded as the former bailiff (CPR 1446-52, p.418).
