Note (Additional information about the record)
- The petition appears to date to 1403 as James White and Gernon were pardoned for the death of the sheriff and for their escape on 4 July 1403 (CPR 1401-5, p.242). However, the guard suggests a later date of 1404 or 1406 based presumably on later pardons to James White and Gernon (CPR 1405-8, pp.284, 443). This dating is possible, though 1406-1408 would be the date range. It seems more likely that the earlier dated is correct.
