SC 8/113/5601
Date
[1324]
Description
Petitioners
Abbot and convent of St Peter, Gloucester.
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
The abbot and convent request remedy as the escheator has seized their manor of Standish into the king's hand because he says they hold it to give certain alms which they have withdrawn. They hold the manor in pure and perpetual alms, and the escheator's reason is against the form of their charter.
Nature of endorsement
Let there be a writ to the escheator that he certify the reason in Chancery, and if there be no other reason than that given in the petition then let there be a writ to remove the hand of the king together with the issues.
Places mentioned
Gloucester, [Gloucestershire]
Standish, Gloucestershire.
Note
The petition dates to 1324 as the escheator was ordered not to intermeddle further in their manor of Standish on 6 March 1324 (CCR 1323-7, p.64).
