Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/112/5574
Date
[? c. 1324]
Description
Petitioners
Reynold Fitz Reynaud (Fitz Reynold), knight.
Name(s)
Fitz Reynaud (Fitz Reynold), Reynold
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Fitz Reynaud requests remedy as while he was in the king's service in Scotland the earl of Kildare by force and arms entered his castle of Carbury, and he is unable to have right because of the earl's lordship.
Nature of endorsement
He should sue in Ireland at the common law in the same place, and if he wishes he should have a writ of Chancery of England to the Chancery of Ireland that they do justice to him, and let justice be done to him.
Places mentioned
Carbury, [County Kildare, Ireland]
Ireland
Scotland.
People mentioned
Thomas Fitz John [Fitz Gerald], Earl of Kildare.
Note
The petition has no dating evidence. The guard notes date this to? c. 1324 but on what basis is unclear. The earl of Kildare died in 1328, and the petition is answered in French so that the petition is likely to be after 1322, so a speculative dating of? c. 1324 is not unreasonable.
