Description
Petitioners
John le Furmeri (Furmery), son of William le Furmery.
Name(s)
Furmeri (Furmery), John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Furmeri requests grace as his father was excluded from his inheritance in High Crosby and Dearham by the count of Aumale, the chief lord, as his father died while he was in Ireland, and when he returned the earl refused to deliver the lands to him. After protracted suits and petitions delayed by the death of the count and Isabel de Forz the lands are now in the king's hand. The petitioner requested remedy and St John was ordered to hold an enquiry but died before it could be done.
Nature of endorsement
The form of the commission to St John, now dead, for an enquiry are to be viewed in Chancery, and let a similar commission be made to D'Eyncourt and Lisle, and they are to certify the king on what they find. And if the orders on this to St John are insufficient they are to be changed according to the discretion of the chancellor etc.
