- [The petition has been badly damaged on its right-hand margin and the sense of the petition is difficult to recover]. Felton requests remedy as he is languishing in prison and will be lost without a remedy . . . concerning an agreement and finance which must be finalised before the quinzene of Pentecost or the agreement will be null.

- The petition is speculatively dated to c. 1378-c. 1379 in accordance with the guard notes. The petition cannot be later than 1381 as patent roll references reveal that Felton was dead by this date. It is possible that the imprisonment referred to in this petition relates to Felton's capture by the French in 1377.
