Elvyngton, for himself and the people of Yorkshire, complains that Melton, now sheriff of Yorkshire, has been instructed to put out of office the under-sheriff and other shrieval officials because of trespasses and other suits that Elvyngton and others have against them, but has not done so; and claims that this is in contradiction of the statute of annual replacement of sheriffs of the forty-second year of Edward III [1368].
