Note
A John Deyvill is recorded as a prisoner in the Tower in June 1324 (CCR 1323-7, p.125), while another of the men listed (Geoffrey de la Mare) also submitted a petition for release at some stage (SC 8/126/6295). As Deyvill states that he had been there for over two years, he may have been arrested in 1322 as a supporter of Thomas of Lancaster. De la Mare's petition, which may be contemporary, blames his imprisonment on the sheriff of Yorkshire, Simon Ward, who certainly fought for the king at the Battle of Boroughbridge, and may have been involved in sending both Yorkshiremen to the Tower.
