Note (Additional information about the record)
- Blaye was an important strategic position throughout the French wars of the first three Edwards, and the petition is here dated some time between the opening of Edward I's war in 1294 and the end of the first phase of the Hundred Years War. The use of French in the endorsement may suggest that it dates from after the 1320s.
