The prior and convent of Durham request that the king support their efforts to secure the appropriation of the church of Hemingbrough, for which they were given leave by his grandfather Edward [I] and by him, bearing in mind the great poverty they suffer as a result of the appropriation of Simonburn church to the king's free chapel of Windsor and the loss of their cell of Coldingham to the Scots.
