Nature of request
The petitioner complains that he has been charged by Belers with accounting for issues from the bailiwick of Leicester from Michaelmas [1321] to Easter [1322], but that the lands of the earl of Lancaster were taken into the king's hands during Lent, and the full amount charged cannot therefore be levied. He requests that an enquiry is commanded by the people of Leicester and the pays as to whether he was bailiff, and whether he owed anything to the earl, and that a remedy be ordained.
Nature of endorsement
Let Roger Belers be ordered by writ aggrieve Busteby wrongly, and to certify the king in Chancery on what he has done.
