King's liegemen of the suburbs of the city of Dublin.

Nature of request
The petitioners request remission to them and their heirs of half their rents, since the suburbs of Dublin were burned and demolished as a defence measure against the Scots at the command of the king and his council in those parts.
Nature of endorsement
The rents have been in the hands of the ancestors of the king, which he does not wish at all to release.Coram rege.

Assumed by Sayles, Affairs, pp. 87-8, and Connolly, 'Irish Ancient Petitions', to date shortly after the reduction of the fee farm of Dublin in 1316 (CPR 1313-17, p. 471); the destruction to which the petition refers took place in 1317.
